Poema del Mar Aquarium belongs to Loro Parque Group. It’s found next to the cruise ship pier and a scant 200 m away from Las Canteras beach. It’s an aquarium dedicated to biodiversity with three well-differentiated areas: ocean surface ecosystems, deep-sea ecosystems and freshwater species. Each exhibition not only showcases more than 350 species from all over the globe, but it’s also the first time that some of them can be seen in an aquarium. In addition to getting a first-hand look at the species, you’ll also get to discover their ecosystems. Different nooks and crannies of the planet are on display so you can actually see how they live. The highlight of the visit is the Deep Sea. Thanks to the world’s largest curved display window, we have every confidence you’ll be suitably impressed. The window – which is 36 metres wide, 7 metres high, and about 39 centimetres thick – will give you the chance to observe sharks while you dive into the depths of the ocean.
