Grand Tour of the ‘Miniature Continent’ – Full Day
Gran Canaria is a ‘miniature continent’ that changes appearance by just turning a bend in any road and the itinerary of the Grand Tour of the ‘Miniature Continent’ gives you the chance to really appreciate this amazing gem waiting to be discovered. The itinerary starts inland through the Fataga ravine and passes through the pre-Hispanic necropolis of Arteara. The set of natural and ethnohistoric values of the Fataga ravine have earned it the status of the Protected Landscape of Fataga and its inclusion in the Network of Protected Natural Spaces in the Canary Islands. There’s a stop midway to visit the Aloe Vera Plantation and to learn about all the properties and quirks of this plant. The itinerary continues on towards the highest peaks on the island such as Roque Nublo (1,813 m) and Roque Bentayga – geological sites and the centre of religious activity in the pre-Hispanic era on Gran Canaria. You’ll descend from the peaks through the midlands. The last stop will be the quaint village of Teror, one of the municipalities with the greatest historic and natural value as it’s home to the Basílica de La Virgen del Pino, the island’s patron saint.
