Flavours and Wines – South

On this excursion through the southern end of the island, you’ll discover the most authentic flavours of the island of Tenerife and its much-appreciated and renowned wines. We’ll start the day with a visit to the banana plantation: Finca Las Margaritas. There, you’ll learn how the island’s most iconic export, the banana, is grown. You’ll be taken on a tour of the plantation where they’ll explain how bananas were grown in the past, how gofio is obtained, and you’ll get to try products made from bananas, gofio, and palm honey, as well as other tropical fruits. Our second stop will be at one of the island’s two most famous wineries: Mencey de Chasna. You’ll go on a guided tour of the winery, its facilities, and its machinery, and you’ll learn all about the winemaking process. You’ll do a wine tasting at the end of the tour. We’ll get on with our itinerary by enjoying the marvellous views offered by the mountain road heading towards Vilaflor. When we arrive at Lagar de Chasna, in addition to tasting some local wine, we’ll also taste some traditional Canarian products. At the end of the excursion, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch that showcases the very best of Canarian cuisine.
