Tenerife Gastro Wine – South

After pick-up, we’ll head to the San Miguel de Abona Farmers’ Market, held in the southern end of the island. There, you can visit the different stalls where farmers and artisans display their products for sale, including fruit, vegetables, flowers, cheeses, bread and pastries, mojo sauces, and wines. Visitors will have free time to browse the different stalls and interact with the inhabitants and get to know the local produce. After the visit to the farmers’ market, we’ll stop at La Centinela viewpoint from where you’ve got a great panoramic view of the southern end of the island: a landscape dotted with volcanic formations, terraces, abandoned orchards, and old roads that are testament to the amount of traditional agricultural activity that took place in the past. We’ll also make a short stop in Vilaflor. It’s a village with a unique charm, and is one of the highest villages in Spain, surrounded by pine forests, and its small houses and beautiful cobbled streets evoke a peaceful and rural atmosphere. Its economy is based on farming potatoes, grapes, and almonds, which is greatly helped by the quality of its land and water. Finally, we’ll visit the El Lagar de Chasna winery. Here we’ll walk through the vineyards and take a guided tour of the winery, where the winemaking process will be explained. We’ll end things on a high note: we’ll taste a selection of five wines accompanied by popular Canarian tapas: potatoes with mojo sauce, almogrote and chorizo perro toast, a Canarian cheese board and a special tapa of the day. After the visit to the winery, we’ll make our way back to the hotel at lunch time.
