We’ll drive along the southeastern coast to reach Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas, the tourist spots par excellence in the south, with their golden-sand beaches. Los Cristianos is home to the largest seafront promenade in Europe, classified as accessible. A short bus ride will take us to Playa San Juan and Playa de la Arena, which feature Tenerife’s characteristic black sand. We will also visit Los Gigantes, stopping at Archipenque viewpoint, and enjoy magnificent views of Acantilados de Los Gigantes, where you can admire the stunning volcanic geological feature, known for its imposing vertical walls with heights ranging between 300 and 600 metres. Below sea level, they also have a depth of 30 metres and are home to amazing biodiversity that attracts both divers and fishermen. We’ll descend to Garachico viewpoint, located 400 metres above sea level, to enjoy a panoramic view of La Villa and Puerto de Garachico. This village has risen from the ashes after its devastation in 1706 by the Trevejo volcano. It’s now a charming town boasting lovely cobbled streets, with architecture steeped in history, and a wonderful location. Its historic quarter has a rich heritage from the 16th and 17th century that is very well-preserved, and it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1994. We’ll also pass through Santiago del Teide, ascending through Erjos until we reach El Tanque, before stopping at La Villa viewpoint and Puerto de Garachico, a title granted by King Alfonso XIII in 1916. Icod de Los Vinos is our next stop, where you’ll have free time to visit the plant that symbolises the island of Tenerife, the Drago Milenario, a nearly thousand-year-old dragon tree. The excursion continues to Puerto de la Cruz, where we’ll take a break for lunch (not included). We’ll then visit the Villa Mariana de Candelaria, home to the Patron Saint of the Canary Islands: the Virgin of Candelaria, known as ‘La Morenita’. It’s a city with great religious and historical importance, where the Guanche and Castilian cultures came together. Candelaria is surrounded by caves and natural beaches, and it also has a rich artistic heritage, consisting of the Basilica of Our Lady of Candelaria, the old Town Hall of Candelaria, among many other buildings.
