Tenerife Gastro Wine – North

The next stop is the Orotava Valley Farmers’ Market. This is a weekly meeting point for customers and local producers: small farmers, livestock breeders, artisans, and pastry chefs who offer a wide range of fresh produce. This promotes the development of the local economy and facilitates the population’s access to healthy food. You can find a wide variety of products: fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, honey, eggs, cheese, bread and pastries, flowers, handicrafts, wines, etc. The visit and wine tasting at Bodegas Tajinaste will be the crowning touch to your experience. There, you’ll get to know the ins and outs of one of the leading wineries in the Canary Islands. Their wines can be found not only in some of the best restaurants in the Canary Islands and the Iberian Peninsula, but also in the United States, Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom. You’ll get to learn first-hand about a vine-training process that’s completely unique in the world: the ‘braided cord’ vineyard. During the visit, you’ll delve into the history of Canary wine: the Canary Island wines that were highly sought-after in the world in the 7th and 8th centuries and to which references can be found in Shakespeare’s works. And you’ll end things on a high note with a tasting of a selection of three wines with a small snack.
