To start, the usual route is along the Costa de la Lava (‘Lava Coast’) where you can admire the Janubio Salt Flats and the village of El Golfo with its stunning Charco de los Clicos, a small lagoon with a bright green colour. Timanfaya National Park is next, where you’ll visit Islote de Hilario where geothermal experiments are held, and then you’ll move through the park along the Route of the Volcanoes. You’ll continue your way north through the wine-growing region of La Geria and see Monumento al Campesino (‘Monument to the Farmer’). Afterwards, you can take in the ‘valley of a thousand palm trees’ in the village of Haría. The visit to one of César Manrique’s masterpieces – Jameos del Agua – will be the culmination of this excursion.
